The State of Utah will identify specific initiatives that will enable the business of government to achieve greater efficiencies and performance through the use of cloud computing. This page will be used to identify and share specific cloud initiatives that will support these objectives.

  • Fully implement cloud email and productivity suite (2011-12)
  • Further enhance the provisioning of infrastructure as a service and platform as a service.
  • Implement a process for identifying and supporting a suite of apps from the apps marketplace that can extend across the state enterprise.
  • Identify cloud-based database environments that will be supported in the cloud.
  • Create a cloud services marketing plan that enables DTS to leverage its investments to benefit local government customers.
  • Partner with other states to leverage the WSCA cloud RFP for shared cloud resources.
  • Collaborate with agencies to identify additional SAAS opportunities.
  • Work towards a consistent, transparent, utilization-based billing model for public and private cloud services.
  • Cloud based management tools for "the internet of things" as it relates to government
  • Develop a strategy for supporting BI in the cloud in a way that supports the delivery of BI resources to mobile devices
  • Clearly define a plan for leveraging existing and future Service Oriented Architecture as part of the overall cloud strategy.
